The Client

Connect Academy Trust is a leading and growing trust Multi-Academy Trust. Their aim is to create strong futures for thousands of pupils through educational excellence. They have eight schools, with 500 members of staff and over 3500 pupils.
 

  

Background

Josh had initially worked with John for several years, seeking new roles at various points in his career. During this time a partnership developed based on trust, transparency and integrity.

The brief

Josh was looking to recruit 2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer. He was looking for someone who was not overly technical and someone ideally from a hospitality background. From a cultural perspective, Connect Trust valued the personality profile of an individual rather than the technical capabilities. Josh knew Connect Trust could teach the technical skills but personal skills and communication were something that were at the heart of the hiring brief.

The Solution

John took the brief to market and identified 3 candidates. One candidate strongly met the hiring criteria, but it was important to provide Josh with the opportunity to compare all 3 candidates. John demonstrated his consultative approach to this brief by providing initial thoughts on each candidate but allowed the interview process to provide Josh with a 360 perspective.

It was the first candidate who demonstrated the strongest alignment to Josh’s hirings needs, including having a hospitality background.

Josh was so impressed with this candidate that he went straight to offer with a salary proposal that was above the initial threshold. This candidate has proved his worth and has had a mid probation review, demonstrating an outstanding start to his new role.
